FNF Gaming Community Forums _ Computer Games _ Minecraft....

So a friend of mine told me about http://www.minecraft.net/ a few days ago. I looked at it, saw the 1991 graphics and thought "No way I can play this crap". I was wrong.....

Basically, Minecraft is the epitome of a sandbox game. You start the game in a random spot (the maps are randomly generated too) with nothing to your name. Basically, you have to survive, build, mine and gather.

You can do anything from farming to livestock raising, zombie hunting to architecture design to just exploring the world, above and below ground. You can go anywhere, do anything, whatever you so desire.

I mostly explore by digging in. I go find caves and start my adventure. The cavern systems are mind boggling in scope and hold all kinds of rare metals to farm and monsters who want to kill you. Dig one wrong hole and you can be swarmed by monsters or engulfed in lava.

I can't even scratch the surface describing everything you can do in this game. Check out the videos on YouTube that people made. They have come up with some ingenious stuff. One guy figured out how to make and automatic monster killing machine that collects all the loot for you. I like the builder videos most though. Some people can build really impressive structures.

The Minecraft forums are massively useful, and needed. Since there are no instructions, you can either learn how to make stuff by trial and error or read the forum guides. There is way too much stuff you can build in this game so the guides are almost a necessity.

There is a very in depth thread at http://www.gamingtrend.com/forums/index.php?topic=38901.0 also with lots of useful information.

They are adding multiplayer too. Basically a bunch of people are plopped on the same land mass and have to build, mine and survive. You have to build traps, hide your valuables, hide yourself, whatever it takes to survive and keep your loot. I have seen videos of people in the multiplayer testing servers building all kinds of sinister traps and coming up with ingenious ways of killing looters.

Anyways, I know this sounds like an advertisement, but this game is worth buying. I have not seen such and original and engrossing game come out in years. Right now you can buy the game for about $14 (they charge by the Euro, which is 9.95 Euros) but once it goes full retail (it's still in Alpha right now) it will be $40.

Just be prepared to lose hours of your time on this game.

lol fnf minecraft you say?

maybe

i used to play on minecraft with my old garrysmod server-group-thing, it was pretty cool

you can essentially create boxes, dig underground, build up, do whatever you feel like. you can draw water in from the ocean, or lava from underground, so in that way, you can make a secret base, cover it up, and play like it never existed (lol)
but yeah cool game
i dunno if it would cost money to have minecraft though (free version is pretty much fantasmical)

EDIT-
after about 30 seconds of very challenging research, it has come to my attention that in order to make a server for minecraft (free version), it is in fact FREE.
i have the server files downloaded, it took a whole 1 second. biggrin.gif
