Per Pad's request, we now can post YouTube video clips in a blog post.

All you need to do is find the video ID, this is the value found in the YouTube URL. For example, I want to embed this video "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMH0bHeiRNg" - what I have to do is grab the value: dMH0bHeiRNg and do this:

[ youtube ]dMH0bHeiRNg[ /youtube ] (Just remove the spaces in between the brackets.)

This method will also work in the forums.

Here's the result:

I've added something new to the site again. I'm sure if you look for it, you'll spot it right away.

I'm testing out a few things before I enable it for everyone else.

I think our custom mappers/modelers will like the new feature. wink.gif

Stay tuned. I'll post something more "formal" once I figure out all the kinks.

IF A GREAT MUSICIAN PLAYS GREAT MUSIC BUT NO ONE HEARS . . . WAS HE REALLY ANY GOOD?

The Washington Post hired a world-famous violinist to play for spare change outside a D.C. Metro station to see if anyone would notice and how much he'd make. "In a banal setting at an inconvenient time, would beauty transcend?"

He only played for less than an hour. Over 1,000 walked by... hardly anyone stopped to listen. This guy packs concert halls at $100 a seat and a few people tossed him a few pennies. The ones that did stop to listen were the children, but they were pulled away by their hurried parents.

I can't blame them, this is what I do during my commute to work. Ignore your surroundings and head straight to the office. Perhaps now I will stop and listen to the music.

It's been busy for the past few days for the FNF website.
  • Today, I just added the blog functionality. Any FNF Sponsor is invited to put up a blog. If you are not a FNF sponsor and still would like to setup a blog, send me a PM.
  • Last night, I migrated the website from AsmallOrange to Dreamhost. This took much longer than expected. The mySQL database script was over 10MB. Darn you Pad for all your posts!
  • Last week was the upgrade of the forums software. It's good to see everyone is having fun with the Friends feature.
I've been putting off some of these upgrades for a while. Hopefully these updates didn't disrupt the use of the site. By adding these new features, I hope to grow our community. FNF has come a long ways from the original Yahoo groups site. If any "old school" members out there want to reminisce, you can still find the original site at: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/fnftfc/ and the DOD site at: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/fnfdod/.

Long live FNF!
